Terms of Service
Effective August 18, 2026
These terms govern your use of Codename Jo, a voice assistant for email from Kiloforge (“Kiloforge”, “we”, “us”, “our”), and of this website. Using either one means you accept them. What we do with the data on each side is a separate document — the Privacy Policy — and it is worth reading alongside this one.
This website and the waitlist
You are welcome to read this site. Asking for access through the Request Access form puts your email address on a list; it is not a purchase, and it does not entitle you to a place in the beta. We invite people in cohorts and we may never get to your address. Nothing on this page asks you for money and nothing here is a contract to supply you with software.
You can leave the list at any time by emailing hello@kiloforge.com, and the Privacy Policy sets out exactly what we hold and how it is deleted.
The private beta
Codename Jo is pre-release software. It is invite-only, it is not finished, and we are still deciding what it should be — so features may appear, change shape, or be taken away, and the app may be unavailable without notice. We do not offer an uptime commitment or a support response time during the beta.
We may end the beta, or end your access to it, at any time. If we do that, your data is handled as the Privacy Policy describes — disconnecting your mailbox and deleting your account removes what we hold.
Please do not treat a beta build as infrastructure. Keep using whatever you use today for mail that has to arrive.
What Codename Jo does on your instruction
This is the part of these terms worth reading twice. Codename Jo listens, turns what you said into text, works out what you meant, and then acts on your real mailbox — it sends, replies, archives, and files messages. Those actions have consequences outside the app, and some of them cannot be taken back once they happen.
Speech recognition mishears. Language models misread intent, summarize loosely, and are confidently wrong some of the time. Codename Jo is built to reduce that and cannot eliminate it. So:
- You are responsible for what Codename Jo sends on your behalf, in the same way you are responsible for mail you type yourself
- Confirm before you commit anything that matters — a message to the wrong recipient, an agreement, a number, a date
- Treat what Jo tells you about your inbox as a summary rather than the record. Open the message itself when the details count
- Do not rely on it alone for anything time-critical, financial, medical, or legally binding
Your account and your mailbox
You connect your mailbox through your provider’s own authorization screen, and your use of that mailbox stays subject to your provider’s terms as well as these. You can revoke Codename Jo’s access at any time from your provider’s account settings, without asking us.
Connect only a mailbox you are entitled to connect. If it belongs to your employer, that is their decision to make and you should have it before you connect it.
Keep your device and your sign-in credentials secure. We recommend against running Codename Jo on a jailbroken or rooted device — it can expose your device to malware and may cause the app to malfunction, and we cannot guarantee correct behavior in that environment.
Your mail is yours
Your mail, your calendar, and anything you dictate remain yours. We claim no ownership of them. You grant us only the permissions needed to run the features you switched on — to read the messages required to answer you, to cache and process what is needed to do that, and to carry out the actions you ask for.
We do not use your mail or calendar data to train or improve AI models, ours or anyone else’s. That commitment, the processors involved, and how long anything is kept are set out in the Privacy Policy.
Acceptable use
Do not use Codename Jo to:
- Send spam, bulk mail, or anything the recipient did not ask for
- Break the law, infringe someone else’s rights, or harass, deceive, or impersonate anyone
- Reach a mailbox or an account you have not been given access to
- Probe, overload, or work around the limits of the service, or use it through automated means to generate volume a person would not
We may suspend or end access that breaks these rules, and we will tell you why where we can.
License and intellectual property
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use Codename Jo for its intended purpose, for as long as we give you access to the beta. You may not copy, modify, reverse-engineer, or create derivative versions of the app or any part of it, and you may not use our trademarks without permission. All intellectual property rights in Codename Jo and in this site remain with Kiloforge.
Subscriptions and purchases
The beta is free. If Codename Jo becomes a paid product, payment will be handled by the platform’s app store — Apple’s App Store, Google Play — and your purchase will be subject to that store’s terms. Purchases are final and non-refundable except where the law requires otherwise, and we cannot modify, cancel, or refund a subscription on your behalf; manage it through your app store account. If a feature that is free today becomes paid, we will make that clear before you are charged.
Connectivity
Codename Jo needs an internet connection for most of what it does. We are not responsible for the app performing at less than full capability when you lack connectivity or have exhausted your data allowance, and any mobile data or roaming charges are yours.
Disclaimers
Codename Jo and this site are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind. That is truer of a beta than of a finished product. Parts of the service depend on third parties — your mail provider, and the AI services named in the Privacy Policy — and we do not guarantee that what the app tells you is complete, correct, or current.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Kiloforge accepts no liability for any loss, direct or indirect, arising from your use of Codename Jo or from relying on what it does or says — including mail sent, archived, or filed on a misheard instruction. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.
Updates and termination
We may release updates and require that you install them to keep using the app, and we may discontinue Codename Jo at any time. If your access ends — because we end it, or because you delete your account — your license to use the app ends with it, and your data is handled as described in the Privacy Policy.
Changes to these terms
If we make material changes we will update the effective date at the top of this page, and notify anyone on the waitlist or in the beta by email. Continuing to use Codename Jo after a change means you accept it.
